Job Summary
Area/Location: Stellenbosch An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and guest-focused Waiter to join a luxury hospitality team. The role is responsible for delivering a refined dining experience, ensuring professional, warm, and discreet service in line with five-star standards. A passion for food, wine, and creating memorable guest experiences is essential. Main Responsibilities: · Greet guests warmly and professionally in accordance with service standards. · Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times. · Understand the full sequence of service and anticipate guest needs. · Maintain detailed knowledge of table allocations, dietary requirements, allergies, and special requests using the daily service sheet. · Communicate all guest food requirements or allergies clearly to the kitchen team. · Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and wine menus to confidently assist and guide guests. · Handle non-menu requests from guests, accommodating where possible. · Recommend dishes, wines, and beverages, promoting menu items to enhance the dining experience. · Address guest complaints and comments professionally, escalating when necessary. · Stay updated on daily functions and special events to ensure readiness and seamless service. · Clear, clean, and reset tables in accordance with quality standards. · Assist with general cleaning tasks such as polishing cutlery, glassware, and cleaning service areas. · Support stock-taking activities as needed. · Restock fridges and bar areas following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures. · Assist with event set-ups, including picnics, braais, conferences, and other special functions. · Accurately record transactions using the POS system (Easipos or similar). Experience & Skills Required: · M0inimum of 2 years’ waitering experience in a high-end fine dining environment (hotel restaurant experience preferred). · Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and general beverage service. · Proficiency in POS systems (Easipos preferred). · Confident in up-selling techniques. · Excellent time management and attention to detail. · Strong problem-solving skills and a guest-first mindset. · Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
