GENERAL MANAGER / MANAGEMENT COUPLE
Luxury Safari Lodge – New Opening
Location: Northern Namibia (Remote / Live-in Position)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced General Manager or Management Couple to lead the opening and full operational launch of a newly developed luxury safari lodge in Northern Namibia. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, refined guest engagement skills, and the ability to manage a remote lodge environment to the highest international standards.
The successful candidate(s) will assume full accountability for end-to-end lodge operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, commercial sustainability, staff development, and adherence to environmental and conservation principles. This role is ideal for hospitality professionals who thrive in wilderness settings and are passionate about luxury safari operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lodge Operations & Guest Experience
- Provide overall leadership and management of all lodge operations, ensuring consistently high service standards across all departments.
- Act as the primary host for guests, delivering a warm, personalised, and professional safari experience.
- Ensure all guest interactions, activities, dining experiences, and accommodation standards exceed expectations.
- Proactively manage guest feedback, complaints, and special requests with discretion and professionalism.
Staff Leadership & Human Capital Management
- Recruit, lead, train, mentor, and motivate lodge staff to deliver world-class service.
- Establish a positive, disciplined, and performance-driven team culture.
- Manage staff rosters, performance evaluations, training plans, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and best-practice HR standards.
Financial, Administrative & Commercial Management
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures.
- Monitor financial performance, cash flow, stock control, and procurement processes.
- Oversee accurate financial reporting and administrative record-keeping.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate cost-effective procurement solutions.
Property, Maintenance & Asset Management
- Ensure lodge infrastructure, guest rooms, staff facilities, equipment, and vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programmes and coordinate repairs as required.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and operational risk standards.
Sustainability, Conservation & Compliance
- Implement and uphold environmentally responsible and sustainable operating practices.
- Ensure compliance with local tourism, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote conservation awareness and responsible tourism principles among guests and staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in senior lodge or luxury hospitality management.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Sound financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
- Ability to operate effectively in a remote, bush-based environment.
- South African or Namibian citizenship or eligibility to work in the region.
Preferred Experience & Attributes
- Previous experience as a General Manager or Management Couple in a luxury safari lodge environment.
- Knowledge of Southern African safari tourism operations and guest expectations.
- Hands-on, adaptable leadership style with strong problem-solving ability.
- Passion for wildlife, conservation, and authentic safari experiences.
Remuneration & Benefits Package
- Salary: R70,000.00 per month
- Accommodation: Fully provided (live-in position)
- Meals: Staff meals included
- Vehicle: Company vehicle provided for General Manager use
- Medical Aid: Medical aid scheme with 50% company contribution for the main member
