Sales and Business Development Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Sales and Business Development Consultant to drive sales growth, build strong client relationships, and represent the company brand (Food and safety standards). The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, managing client relationships, coordinating projects, and supporting business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Drive sales activities to achieve budgeted targets and report on performance.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, client visits, follow-ups, and presentations.
Generate new business through networking, cold calling, lead follow-ups, and digital platforms as well as client visits.
Be prepared to travel occasionally to Mossel Bay or East London (Once every 3-4 months), and to stay overnight. This person will serve the EC Franchise Area from East London to Mossel Bay, including areas such as Hankey, Patensie and Kirkwood.
Prepare client proposals, quotations, SLAs, and agreements within required timelines.
Manage CRM records, sales reporting, and client information systems.
Coordinate training interventions, including scheduling, client communication, logistics, and quality monitoring.
Liaise with clients, consultants, facilitators, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Monitor client satisfaction and address any concerns proactively.
Support sales and marketing strategies through market research, competitor benchmarking, and customer feedback.
Maintain professional communication across all client platforms, including email, website enquiries, LinkedIn, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
Assist with additional business development and team support activities as required.
Requirements
Marketing / Sales Degree, Diploma, or relevant qualification.
Minimum 3 years’ experience within the food industry.
Strong sales, networking, and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational abilities.
Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage schedules independently.
Strong digital marketing understanding and intermediate MS Office skills.
Valid driver’s licence.
Food safety experience/training (R638, PRP, HACCP, GLOBALG.A.P, FSSC 22000, BRCGS) advantageous.
