Key Summary:
The On-the-Floor Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing product quality and ensuring process compliance directly within the production area and the quality control laboratory. This position collaborates closely with production and quality control teams to proactively prevent defects, address quality issues immediately, and foster a culture of quality through active leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor and in the quality control laboratory to oversee quality performance and ensure compliance.
- Confirm that production processes adhere to established quality standards, specifications, and work instructions.
- Detect quality issues as they occur and implement immediate containment and corrective measures.
- Lead investigations into root causes of defects, rework, and customer complaints.
- Execute, validate, and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support first-article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and staff to enhance process capabilities.
- Train and mentor employees on quality standards and best practices.
- Ensure the correct use of quality tools, including control plans, SOPs, check sheets, and overall quality management systems.
- Verify compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and related quality documentation.
- Track key quality indicators such as defect rates, rework, and yield, driving ongoing improvements.
- Assist with internal and external audits by maintaining compliance at the floor level.
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment-related quality concerns.
- Promote safety, cleanliness, and discipline in alignment with FSSC quality standards.
- Provide support in the microbiology laboratory as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in food science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Between 2 to 5 years of practical quality experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Solid knowledge of shop-floor quality tools and inspection methods.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards such as ISO 22000 (FSSC 22000).
