Job Summary The Waiter is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience through professional, friendly, and efficient service. The role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards, and ensuring guest satisfaction in accordance with the establishment's service standards. Key Responsibilities Welcome and seat guests in a professional and friendly manner. Present menus and provide detailed information about menu items, daily specials, and beverages. Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system. Serve food and beverages promptly and according to service standards. Ensure tables are set and maintained to the required standard before, during, and after service. Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to requests or concerns. Clear tables efficiently and reset them for the next guests. Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant, bar, and service stations. Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and cleaning service areas. Process guest bills and payments accurately. Promote additional menu items, beverages, and specials to enhance the guest experience. Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service. Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations. Report maintenance issues, guest complaints, and operational concerns to management. Assist with functions, conferences, and special events when required. Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by management. Working Conditions Based at a lodge, hotel, or restaurant in Bela-Bela, Limpopo. Hospitality hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays. Requires long periods of standing and walking. Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Hospitality or Food & Beverage qualification is advantageous. Food Safety or HACCP certification is beneficial. Experience Minimum 1–2 years' experience as a waiter in a hotel, lodge, restaurant, or hospitality environment. Experience in a luxury lodge or fine dining establishment is advantageous. Experience using a POS system is preferred. Knowledge & Skills Excellent customer service skills. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service procedures. Basic knowledge of wines, cocktails, and other beverages is advantageous. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic numeracy skills for handling bills and payments. Ability to upsell menu items and beverages. Knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and health & safety standards.
