This Senior Financial Planner (Estate and Trust Specialist) role sits within the Wealth Planning division and plays a pivotal role in shaping advanced estate strategies and ensuring technical excellence across all client solutions.
You will take ownership of complex estate planning strategies, ensuring optimal structuring of client portfolios aligned to tax efficiency, legislative compliance, and long-term wealth preservation. This role requires strong collaboration across advisory, legal, tax, and fiduciary teams to deliver best-in-class outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop complex estate planning strategies, including trusts, tax-efficient structures, and cross-border considerations.
- Provide expert guidance on estate duty, capital gains tax, and income tax implications.
- Review, validate, and sign off on estate and risk analyses prepared by Financial Planners.
- Design and implement optimal structuring solutions aligned to client financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with legislation including the Estate Duty Act, Income Tax Act, and Trust Property Control Act.
- Identify and mitigate risks within estate structures and financial planning solutions.
- Act as the subject matter expert in estate and fiduciary planning across the business.
- Engage and collaborate with Wealth Planners, Financial Advisors, legal and tax specialists on complex client cases.
- Provide technical mentorship, training, and guidance to Financial Planners.
- Oversee the preparation of comprehensive estate planning reports and ensure accuracy of all outputs.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Relevant financial qualification (BCom Finance, Accounting, or LLB).
- Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning with CFP® designation (essential).
- Advanced Diploma in Estate Planning.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in estate planning, with exposure to complex trust structures.
- Advanced knowledge of estate planning, fiduciary law, and tax legislation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and strong report-writing capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Afrikaans preferred).
