Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on daily, weekly and monthly HSE activities, including incidents, near
misses, safety findings, PPE and housekeeping.
- Conduct and assist with HSE, departmental and contractor audits, including follow-up on
corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in FMEA reviews.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and assist with corrective and preventative
actions.
- Promote HSE awareness through inductions, toolbox talks, safety conversations and
employee training.
- Maintain and support the site's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Monitor environmental compliance and respond to environmental incidents in line with the
site EMPr.
- Maintain compliance with applicable HSE legislation, including OSHA, GSR, NEMA,
NEMAQA and NEMWA.
- Participate in daily plant meetings and HSE review meetings.
- Monitor housekeeping and general HSE standards across the facility.
- Provide HSE support to management and employees as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' HSE experience, preferably within a chemical, automotive, industrial or
construction environment.
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management or
Environmental Management, or SAMTRAC/NEBOSH.
- ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience/qualification advantageous.
- Experience in auditing, risk assessments and incident investigation.
- Good knowledge of South African HSE legislation.
- Strong report writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Good analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of working at heights, chemical management and confined spaces
advantageous.
