Job Summary
Move from advising businesses to developing the people who build them.
You know how to analyse a business. You can work through messy information, identify the real commercial problem, structure an argument, challenge assumptions and turn complexity into a practical course of action.
But what if your role did not end with the recommendation?
What if you could stay close enough to the business to see whether the thinking actually translates into better decisions, stronger commercial capability and a more effective entrepreneur?
Raizcorp is looking for commercially astute professionals with management-consulting experience to join us in a role that blends business consulting and entrepreneurial coaching.
You will work directly with a portfolio of entrepreneurs, helping them solve real business problems across strategy, finance, sales, marketing, operations and people - while simultaneously developing their ability to solve those problems for themselves.
This is not traditional management consulting. You will not arrive, diagnose a problem, produce a deck and move on. Instead, you will work alongside entrepreneurs over time: analysing their businesses, challenging their thinking, helping them evaluate strategic choices and guiding them through the implementation and consequences of those decisions.
You do not need previous coaching experience. Raizcorp will train you in our internationally recognised business-coaching methodology. What we need is your analytical ability, commercial judgement, curiosity about business and genuine interest in developing entrepreneurs. This role is a full time role with the express requirement to be present at work from 8:00 am to 17:00 week days.
What you’ll do
- Hold structured one-on-one sessions with a portfolio of entrepreneurs, working through the commercial and developmental challenges facing their businesses.
- Analyse businesses across finance, strategy, sales, marketing, operations and people to identify constraints, opportunities and underlying commercial issues.
- Help entrepreneurs interpret financial and operational information and translate it into better business decisions.
- Apply structured problem-solving to complex and sometimes ambiguous entrepreneurial challenges.
- Challenge assumptions, test logic and help entrepreneurs evaluate the trade-offs behind important business decisions.
- Work with entrepreneurs to strengthen their strategies, commercial models, sales approaches, marketing activities, operational systems and people practices.
- Help entrepreneurs move from identifying a problem to implementing practical solutions - while ensuring that they develop the capability to make better decisions independently.
- Facilitate business simulations, workshops and group learning interventions using Raizcorp’s programmes and methodology.
- Collaborate with other Guides, specialists and programme teams to support each entrepreneur’s development journey.
This role may be a strong fit for you if you are:
- A management consultant who enjoys the problem-solving component of consulting but wants a deeper relationship with the businesses and people you support.
- Someone who enjoys moving between different industries, business models and commercial problems.
- Commercially curious and naturally interested in understanding how businesses actually work.
- Comfortable working with incomplete information, ambiguity and problems that do not have textbook answers.
- Someone who enjoys challenging intelligent people without needing to prove that you are the cleverest person in the room.
- Interested not only in solving the problem, but in developing the entrepreneur’s ability to solve the next one.
- Energised by seeing recommendations move beyond a presentation and into the day-to-day reality of a business.
What you’ll need
- Meaningful experience in management consulting, strategy consulting, commercial advisory, corporate strategy or a closely related environment.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capability.
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to understand how strategy, finance, sales, marketing, operations and people interact.
- Strong financial literacy and confidence interpreting business performance, financial statements and commercial drivers.
- Exposure to different businesses, sectors, business models or commercial challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and practically.
- The confidence to challenge entrepreneurs while remaining constructive, respectful and non-judgemental.
- High emotional intelligence and genuine curiosity about people and entrepreneurship.
- An organised, disciplined and proactive working style.
- Confidence using technology and business systems, including Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office.
- A commerce, business, finance, economics, engineering or similarly relevant tertiary qualification.
- An MBA or other postgraduate business qualification will be an advantage.
- A valid driver’s licence and your own vehicle.
- Entrepreneurial experience, including having built, operated or been closely involved in a business, will be a significant advantage.

About
Who is Raizcorp?
Established in 2000, Raizcorp was created to grow and develop entrepreneurs in different contexts and in different stages of their lifecycles. Raizcorp has since evolved into different divisions that service the specific needs of entrepreneurs and those who support them.
Raizcorp is according to The Economist, the only genuine business incubator in Africa. However, we prefer to think of ourselves as a Prosperator™ rather than an incubator. We provide business support for enthusiastic and growth-hungry entrepreneurs, offering them a platform that fosters learning, and guidance that can be translated into practical business success.
