We are seeking an experienced Line Boring Technician with strong hands-on experience in line boring, bore welding, precision machining and heavy machinery repairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing precision machining and bore restoration work on heavy-duty equipment, ensuring repairs meet the required specifications and quality standards. This is a hands-on technical position suited to an experienced, trade-qualified professional who can work independently and deliver accurate, high-quality results with minimal supervision.

Candidates must be work-ready and have practical experience in line boring and bore welding, as training will not be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and workshop-based line boring operations on heavy machinery and equipment.

• Carry out bore welding, bore restoration and precision machining to repair worn or damaged components.

• Inspect, measure and assess components to determine the extent of wear, damage and required repairs.

• Operate line boring equipment, welding equipment and associated precision machining tools.

• Use micrometers and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurements and tolerances.

• Perform machining and repair work in accordance with technical specifications and quality requirements.

• Diagnose mechanical issues and identify appropriate repair methods.

• Ensure all completed work meets the required standards for accuracy, functionality and durability.

• Conduct equipment checks and ensure tools and machinery are maintained in good working condition.

• Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures when working with machinery, tools and heavy equipment.

• Complete assigned work within agreed timeframes while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

• Work independently and demonstrate sound technical judgement when resolving operational challenges.

• Be available to work overtime when required to meet operational and project deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant trade qualification as a Turner, Fitter and Turner, or Machinist. Qualified Welders with substantial, directly relevant line boring and bore welding experience may also be considered.

• Approximately 5 years of hands-on experience in line boring, bore welding, precision machining and heavy machinery repairs.

• Proven practical experience in bore repairs, restoration and machining of heavy-duty equipment.

• Experience working with precision measuring instruments, particularly micrometers.

• Exposure to mining equipment, heavy machinery or industrial equipment will be advantageous.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications and work to precise measurements and tolerances.

• Valid driver's licence.

• Medically fit and able to perform the physical requirements of the position.

• Willingness to work overtime when required.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
