The Government of Japan is inviting applications from South Africans who will have graduated from university by June 2022 (with a degree in any major), and who would like the opportunity to spend at least one year in Japan as Assistant English Language Teachers under a successful international exchange programme. (No knowledge of Japanese is required to apply).
AIM: The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is designed to promote mutual understanding between Japan and South Africa and to intensify English language education in Japan.
ROLE FUNCTION: Participants will be employed as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in public Elementary, Junior High and High Schools. ALTs support Japanese English teachers, assist with the preparation of supplementary teaching materials and promote cultural exchange.
CONDITIONS: Contracts will be for one year, commencing in July 2022 (renewable up to 5 years). Salary, travel and visa expenses will be paid by the contracting organization in Japan.
