Radley Private School is seeking a caring and enthusiastic FET-qualified educator with a passion for teaching Afrikaans. This is a temporary contract position for the first term of 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that foster purposeful learning progression, evaluating and reporting on academic progress, and maintaining comprehensive records in line with the requirements of the Department of Education and other relevant legislation. The position will commence at the start of Term 1, 2026.
Engage in classroom teaching that fosters meaningful progression in learners’ understanding of Afrikaans.
Implement strategies to improve learner results and ensure agreed outcomes are met each term.
Prepare lessons in accordance with curriculum guidelines, new teaching approaches, technology integration, and learner needs.
Plan, coordinate, administer, evaluate, and report on learner academic progress.
Provide extra lessons where learning gaps are identified.
Assist the Principal with learner counselling, guidance, discipline, career advice, and overall learner welfare.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date learner attendance and assessment records are maintained within required deadlines.
Oversee the SBA (School-Based Assessment) programme of assessment.
Maintain comprehensive records, update databases, and conduct statistical analysis as required by the Department of Education.
Moderate test and examination papers (internal and external), including memoranda, when required.
Perform various non-teaching administrative duties, such as assisting with fire drills and first aid.
FET qualified with a recognised four-year teaching degree or diploma from an accredited institution.
IEB Grade 12 experience is advantageous.
Compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements for teachers.
A minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
Familiarity with the CAPS curriculum for Afrikaans and related subjects.
Proficiency in modern teaching practices, including personalised learning, flipped classrooms, differentiated instruction, and effective use of technology.
A passion for Afrikaans and a genuine interest in developing young minds.
Experience in entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial activities is highly advantageous.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence is an advantage.
High emotional intelligence and a strong commitment to nurturing young minds.
Self-motivated, well-organised, and systematic in approach.
Pro-active team player with the ability to manage tasks under pressure.
Punctual, reliable, and professional at all times.
