This perm role is within the fruit industry and open to applicants ‘Northern / Upper SA’ (North-West / Gauteng / Limpopo / Mpumalanga). This permanent position is well suited to a professional that is looking to advance their career in customer management while enhancing their technical expertise in the cultivar environment in South Africa’s growing fruit industry.
Main Responsibilities:
• Facilitating the movement of cultivars through the evaluation and development of a business strategy for each cultivar.
• Compile evaluation data into presentable media
• Expedite the movement of new cultivars through, quarantine & citrus improvement scheme for Disease Free certification.
• Manage processes of evaluation to determine value potential.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to meet business objectives in the citrus cultivar market.
• Identify new market opportunities and customer segments for the company's citrus products.
• Create sales forecasts, budgets, and ensure sales targets are achieved.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and consumer demand in the citrus market.
• Conduct regular market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities for growth.
• Manage the process of IP protection of cultivars that show probable value.
• Develop, implement and co-ordinate a sales management strategy for each cultivar.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
Experience: Minimum of 5+years in technical advising and/or sales, with a preference for experience in the agriculture, horticulture, or citrus industry.
Skills:
· Strong negotiation and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of citrus cultivation, market trends, and production techniques.
· Ability to analyze sales data and market information. Ability to travel regularly, if necessary, to meet with clients and attend events.
· Strong organizational and time management skills. Customer-focused with an ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
· Analytical thinker with the ability to assess market conditions and make strategic decisions.
· Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English and a Valid driver’s license
· Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word etc., and GIS skills is an advantage)
