Job Summary
An established and reputable farming enterprise in the Patensie area is seeking a skilled and experienced Junior Production Manager to oversee and manage the technical functions of their citrus and greenhouse production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal crop performance, quality control, and compliance with agricultural standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar technical farming role
- Excellent computer literacy - Microsoft Excel
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and monitor pest control programs
- Design and manage planting programs for optimal yield
- Monitor the quality and progress of greenhouse planting activities
- Implement and oversee cultivar trials and ensure product quality
- Manage procurement and application of fertilizers and pest control products
- Supervise and develop technical staff
- Manage compliance with farming audits such as Global GAP, Farming for the Future, DAFF, and SIZA Environmental
- Develop, implement, and train staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Draft and train on job descriptions
- Ensure the application of disciplinary procedures when necessary
Remuneration:
R15 000 - R 25 000 cost to company (including Pension Fund) + Company car
Work hours:
Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 17:00 and every 3rd weekend be on-call
