They are seeking an experienced Farm Manager to take full responsibility for the financial and operational performance of their pecan farm in the Vaalharts district.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on agricultural leader with strong production, people management and commercial skills.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day operations of the farm to ensure efficient and profitable production.
Oversee all pecan production activities, including irrigation, fertilisation, crop care and harvesting.
Develop and implement operational plans aligned with production targets.
Monitor orchard performance and ensure optimal tree health and yield.
Ensure effective planning and deployment of labour, equipment and resources.
Manage infrastructure, machinery and farm assets to ensure operational efficiency.
Maintain quality standards and ensure best farming practices are followed.
Ensure compliance with food safety, agricultural and audit requirements, including Global G.A.P.
Manage annual budgets, monitor expenditure and control operational costs.
Analyse production and financial performance to identify efficiencies and improvement opportunities.
Coordinate suppliers, contractors and service providers.
Lead, manage and develop farm staff to ensure productivity and accountability.
Implement systems and reporting processes to improve operational visibility and decision-making.
Minimum RequirementsRelevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture or related field advantageous.
5–10 years’ farm management experience within commercial agriculture.
Experience in pecan production or tree crop farming will be highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of irrigation, crop management and orchard operations.
Strong financial and budget management skills.
Good understanding of labour legislation and HR practices.
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent planning, leadership and problem-solving skills.
