Logistics Project Engineer (Contract ending 31 December 2027) Based in Kariega - EC
About the OpportunityOur client, a leading player in the automotive manufacturing industry, is seeking a Temporary Project Engineer to join their Logistics Department (Production Division) in Kariega.
This hands-on role is ideal for a technically minded and analytical individual with a passion for project management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
You will play a key engineering role in developing, planning and implementing logistics and material-handling solutions to ensure optimal flow of parts from source to line-side.
Your responsibilities will include:
Material Flow & Facility Design
Develop detailed logistics material flow concepts for production and warehouse environments.
Design and procure specialised logistics equipment such as stillages, pallets, dunnage, racking, trolleys, and storage systems.
Produce detailed CAD layouts, drawings and engineering specifications using modern technology and design principles.
Project Management
Prepare and monitor project plans, timelines and deliverables.
Run RFQ processes, evaluate technical quotations, and negotiate with suppliers.
Prepare and motivate budget and appropriation requests for new projects.
Manage purchase requisitions, approvals and project documentation.
Implementation & Handover
Coordinate trials, demonstrations and acceptance of newly introduced equipment or processes.
Ensure seamless handover of logistics facilities and systems to production teams.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
Draft and update logistics service contract specifications.
Chair meetings with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Work closely with engineering, production, supply chain and external contractors.
Minimum Requirements
Degree or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Logistics.
3 years’ experience in logistics processes within an automotive manufacturing environment.
2 years’ experience as a Project Engineer in logistics planning or similar.
Essential Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently, handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent planning, organising, communication and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in interpreting and producing 3D CAD drawings.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and full MS Office literacy.
Added Advantages
SAP (Supply Chain Management) experience.
German language proficiency (not required).
