Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to plan and execute tooling projects.
Operate a variety of toolroom machinery, including manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM equipment.
Manufacture, assemble, and fit precision parts to extremely close tolerances using a range of both machine and hand tools.
Conduct thorough testing and inspection of finished tools using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure all specifications are met.
Troubleshoot and conduct fault-finding on tooling and moulds, performing necessary repairs to minimise production interruptions.
Collaborate effectively with the engineering and production teams to optimise tooling designs and streamline manufacturing processes.
Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education: A minimum of Grade 12 or NQF equivalent technical qualification.
Certification: Completed a registered apprenticeship and hold a relevant Trade Tested certification (e.g., Red Seal Tool, Jig & Die Maker certification).
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy manufacturing or production environment, with specific experience in metal press, mould, or casting tools being highly advantageous.
