Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Draughtsperson with excellent problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple design projects under pressure. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Producing precise and detailed technical drawings, from initial concept and design, detailed design, and compilation of comprehensive 3D manufacturing drawings for each project
- Interpreting client requirements and transforming design concepts into production-ready drawings
- Collaborating closely with Design and Production Teams to ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability
- Updating and maintaining the drawing register and documentation control systems
- Revising and refining existing designs in response to client or production feedback
- Providing technical support during production processes, as well as to sales and manufacturing teams
- Conducting site measurements or assisting with prototyping as required
- Liaising with suppliers regarding component specifications and materials where necessary
- Researching and designing new concepts and products
- Contributing to the development of existing products
- Estimating costs for both existing and new designs, and comparing estimated versus actual costs upon project completion
- Undertaking any other duties relevant to the role
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g. Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical or Architectural Draughting)
- Minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial design environment
- Strong understanding of steel structures, plumbing, 12V electrical installations, solar panels, and mechanical components
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Excel and drawing software
- Access to reliable personal transport
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience within the mobile sanitation or modular construction sectors
- Familiarity with SANS standards and compliance codes
- Practical experience in fabrication or production processes
