Job Summary
A world class and a leading producer of stainless steel products is seeking to appoint a Refractory Technician to their dynamic team.
Requirements:
- N6 mechanical/electrical engineering diploma
- 5 years’ experience in refractory installation in the steel industry.
- Added advantage will be a National Diploma Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering complemented by 3 years’ experience in refractory installation in the steel industry.
- Extensive skills and knowledge of; refractory installation
- Have sound understanding of OSHACT, quality and environmental standards.
- Compatibility to the Steelplant environment is critical; must be physically fit to work shift, comfortable to work in an environment with extreme heat, dust, noise and heights.

- Ability to; coach and monitor diverse teams within the Business Unit, cope well under pressured situations with high attention to details.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan daily refractory installations and achieve turnaround targets for vessels relines.
- Ensure that all work related to refractory installation and/or monitoring is in line with the required quality standard. It will remain critical for the Technician to adhere to; relevant principles; refractory, metallurgy, safety, quality, trouble shooting and also taking agile corrective action around vessel failure.
- Effective contractor liaison associated with coaching/training team members, accurate and summary reporting.
