Our client in the industrial / manufacturing services industry is looking to employ a Senior Workshop Assistant to join their team based in Johannesburg.

Requirements:
- Grade 12 (with English & Mathematics) or equivalent
- Min 2 Years working experience as Junior Workshop Assistant
- Or Min 4 years working experience technical, electrical or industrial working experience
- Technical Trade Certificate
- Technical Valid South African Driver’s License
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to weld (welding qualification an advantage)
- Ability to work at heights (Working at Heights qualification necessary)
- Risk Assessment qualification
- First Aid Level 1
- Ability to understand, interpret and implement technical instructions
Responsibilities:
Manufacturing, Installation and Production
- Manufacturing and maintaining products according to specifications
- Service and installation of all products where necessary
- Any ad-hoc duties to be performed either at the premises or on customer sites
- Identify any potential production issues and communicate an early prevention warning
- Ensure that products are produced on time and are of good quality
- Work carried out on time
Training and Staff Development
- Provide continuous in-job training to all junior workshop staff to ensure maximum staff performance and productivity
- Provide continuous training to all junior workshop staff on hand tools, power tools and other equipment
Deliveries, Vehicles and Logistics
- Drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver manufactured products, tools, spares and parts
- Deliver important documents to required destinations when necessary
- Keep vehicle clean and maintained at all times
- Perform preventative and regular maintenance on vehicle and report this
- Ensure that all deliveries have been signed for and delivered to the correct customers
- Washing vehicles when necessary
Workshop and Equipment Duties
- Welding
- Oversee stock used in the production and assisting with information during stock takes
- Ensuring that all tools and machinery are in working order and report damaged or lost tools
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
- Check all safety equipment, safety clothing and safety requirements monthly and replace or repair where necessary
- Maintaining a clean, clear, tidy working environment at all times
- Considering own safety and that of co-workers at all times
Quality Control
- Implementing and enforcing strict quality control measures
- Ensure quality standards are achieved and monitor product standards
Customer Service
- Ensuring customer satisfaction in every aspect of duties
- Interact professionally and respectfully with customers
- Maintain presentable appearance when interacting with clients
- Identify additional product opportunities at customer sites
- Provide customers with contact details for servicing and support
Teamwork and Conduct
- Assisting team members outside of scope of duty when required
- Show courtesy, respect and friendliness towards team members and management
- Adhere to company policies and code of conduct
- Lead by example and contribute to team targets
- Be open to suggestions and advice from team members and management
General and Continuous Improvement
- Attend workshops, meetings and training with a positive attitude
- Attend toolbox and safety talks daily and weekly
