Job Summary
BOILERMAKER / EAST LONDON – TEMPORARY POSITION – MONTH-TO-MONTH
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric with Mathematics and Science
- Technical qualification (N3 or higher)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial environment
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Physically fit with the strength, dexterity, and stamina required for physically demanding tasks, including lifting and manoeuvring heavy metal components
- Proven ability to:
- Read and interpret technical drawings
- Perform cutting (Oxy/Acetylene)
- Welding (Arc, TIG, and Gas)
- Steel fabrication
- Use hand and power tools effectively
- Perform rigging operations
- Accurately measure and mark materials
- Strong safety awareness with strict adherence to health and safety standards
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently without supervision
- Able to work alone or as part of a team
- Willing and available to work after hours during the week and on weekends, if required
Assessment & Testing:
- The successful applicant will be required to complete a practical workshop test prior to signing any contract
- Testing will be conducted:
- In the applicant’s own time; At a time, suitable to the Foreman; The applicant must make 4 hours available for this assessment
Tools & PPE Requirements:
- The applicant must present their own tools to the Foreman for inspection before any contract is signed
- It is essential that the applicant has all tools required to perform the job
- The company will not supply tools
- The applicant must also provide their own: Safety boots AND Overalls
Salary – Market related
