Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and manage packhouse operations shifts
to achieve daily production targets and ensure on time dispatch of the fruit.
Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and
export standards (GlobalG.A.P., HACCP, BRC).
Lead, train, and manage packhouse staff to
maintain a productive and high-performing team.
Coordinate production schedules with farming and
logistics to optimise throughput.
Monitor and maintain cold chain integrity
throughout the packing process.
Manage packaging materials, inventory, and
production records.
Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and
operational.
Enforce health, safety, hygiene, and housekeeping
standards.
Prepare and analyse production, quality, labour,
and operational reports.
Drive continuous improvement in efficiency,
quality, and cost-effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 (Matric); Diploma or Degree in Agriculture,
Food Technology, or related field advantageous
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a packhouse or
fresh produce environment, with at least 2 years in
a supervisory or management role
Sound knowledge of fresh produce packing,
grading, and export requirements
Familiarity with food safety and quality standards
(GlobalG.A.P., HACCP, BRC or similar)
Strong leadership, planning, and people
management skills
Proficient in MS Excel and packhouse management
systems
Good communication skills in English; additional
languages advantageous
Ability to work under pressure.
