Job Summary
The role of the Investment Data Analyst is to work closely and primarily with request for proposals (RFP), Client Groups and Product Specialists in providing holdings, undertaking data analysis and facilitating data reporting. The role requires co-ordination, multi-tasking, contextual analysis, attention to detail and working to varied timeframes. Analysis of data is a core function to provide different quantitative data sets. Managing ad-hoc holdings requests and attendant disclosure requirements is also a core function, by liaising with both Client Group and various data vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and produce bespoke data sets for RFPs and prospective clients
- Analyse and interpret large datasets in Excel while applying excellent attention to detail
- Implement strategies to streamline and improve the data analysis process
- Manage the global disclosure policy in the business’ best interest and control appropriate look through reporting
- Ensure necessary approvals are obtained and liaise with legal to ensure signed NDAs are in place
- Daily multi-tasking and prioritising data requests and tasks according to business, team and client needs
- Managing tight deadlines by working efficiently, communicating effectively and understanding requests in a business context
- Detailed prep-analysis and evaluation of data requests is required, in order to source underlying data sets promptly, and to prioritise requests appropriately and effectively manage data delivery expectations
- Compile fund annexes to Client Groups quarterly
- Manage relationships with data vendors, facilitate regular reporting of large data sets to the vendors, effectively manage queries that arise on the data sets and be able to assess the feasibility or benefit of new data provider offerings
- Initiative required to continually leverage off system functionality and improve procedures with a view to mitigating risk
- Identifying efficiencies in process and accommodating change to strategies, client demands, or in response to industry change
- Identify, analyse and interpret trends in complex data sets
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and aggregating or consolidating data while maintaining quality assurance of data output to stakeholders
- Ability to investigate and oversee the resolution of data issues by identifying issues and liaising effectively with appropriate business teams
- Requires excellent communication and a close working relationship with Proposal Specialists, Product Specialists, Client Directors, IT, External Data Vendors, Legal amongst others
- Proactively manage own and other team members deliverables, when team members are on leave or out of office
Requirements:
- Technical Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in Quantitative, Mathematical, Statics or related subjects, with a focus on Investments and Data Analysis
- Minimum 5 - 7 years financial services experience required - asset management industry preferred
- Must have proven work experience of data analysis of complex data sets
- Global experience an advantage
- System Skills:
- MS Excel (Intermediate to advanced level) – specifically manipulating large sets of complex data using pivots and formulas
- An Excel assessment will be undertaken
