Qualifications
- Matric
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field.
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in export logistics or a similar role.
- Experience with cross-border shipments (Africa experience advantageous).
- Strong understanding of export procedures and documentation.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade regulations.
- Familiarity with customs processes and clearing procedures.
- Experience exporting into African markets (e.g., Mozambique, DRC, Zambia, Botswana)
- Knowledge of dangerous goods handling (if applicable)
- Experience with bonded cargo and special permits
Duties
- Plan and execute export shipments in line with customer requirements and contractual obligations.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, transport companies, and clearing agents to arrange shipments.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Documentation Management
- Prepare and verify export documentation including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Bills of lading / Air waybills
- Certificates of origin
- Export permits and licenses
- Ensure all documentation complies with customs and international trade regulations.
- Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure adherence to local and international export regulations and customs requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of Incoterms and ensure correct application in transactions.
- Manage export permits and ensure compliance with country-specific regulations.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding export shipments.
- Coordinate with internal departments (sales, finance, warehouse) to ensure smooth operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with service providers and regulatory bodies.
- Financial & Cost Control
- Verify freight and clearing invoices for accuracy.
- Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure correct billing to customers in line with agreed terms.
- Problem Solving & Risk Management
- Identify and resolve shipment delays, customs issues, and documentation discrepancies.
- Proactively manage risks associated with exports (e.g., delays, damages, compliance risks).
- Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation archives.
- Provide regular reports on export activities, delays, and performance metrics.
- Ensure data integrity within ERP or logistics systems (e.g., Xero, SAP, etc.).
