This role is responsible for leading and optimising first mile operations across a national courier logistics network. You will take full ownership of collections performance, ensuring strict compliance with operational frameworks and service level agreements while continuously improving efficiency, cost control, and service delivery.

Working closely with internal leadership, regional teams, and client stakeholders, you will design and implement operational strategies, manage budgets, drive fleet efficiency, and build high-performing teams. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic oversight and operational execution in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lead national first mile operations, ensuring SLA compliance and service excellence
• Develop and implement operational plans, SOPs, and control frameworks
• Manage contract performance, including KPI tracking, reporting, and client engagement
• Drive collections performance, ensuring Day 0 and Day 1 targets are consistently achieved
• Oversee fleet utilisation and cost optimisation strategies
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards
• Analyse operational data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
• Lead and develop regional and site teams to deliver consistent performance
• Manage budgets, track variances, and implement corrective actions
• Drive training and capability development across all operational levels

What You Bring

• Matric with a relevant logistics or supply chain qualification (advantageous)
• 5–7 years’ experience in contract or operational management
• 3–5 years in a leadership role within logistics or a similar environment
• Strong knowledge of SLA management, compliance, and operational controls
• Experience in fleet management, budgeting, and performance optimisation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage performance in a high-pressure environment
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
