Job Summary
Job Purpose:
To support the calibration of instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures and standards, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with quality requirements. The role also involves assisting with method development, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement of laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration of instruments for which competency has been established.
- Operate all relevant equipment required to carry out calibration activities effectively.
- Assist in performing calibrations under supervision when not yet deemed competent, ensuring adherence to required standards and procedures.
- Support the development, modification, verification, and validation of calibration methods.
- Analyze and interpret calibration results, identifying any deviations or inconsistencies.
- Assist in maintaining and ensuring the proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Participate in interlaboratory comparisons as part of ongoing training and performance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of calibration activities and results.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant technical qualification in Engineering, Metrology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of calibration principles and laboratory practices.
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- Relevant technical qualification in Engineering, Metrology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in a calibration or laboratory environment.
- Previous experience in a calibration laboratory environment will be advantageous.
