A job opportunity has become available in the Durban for a Despatch Supervisor. The successful candidate will be expected to control and co-ordinate receiving and despatch team as well as liaising with security and transporters.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Vehicle receiving and despatch, document control and security:
• Updated order entry and standalone systems are maintained accurately
• Ensure document controls are reviewed and maintained
• Ensure that correct product and quantity are loaded onto vehicle for collect and delivered customers

Traffic control and despatch Control:

• Ensure timeous loading and deliveries
• Monitor Gate to Gate efficiency
• Communicate with all stakeholders site traffic bottle necks
• Ensure Transporters comply with Site and SHE rules and requirements

Quality and environment pollution control:

• Report and document all suspected quality deviations
• Report all spillages and ensure Despatch vehicles are free of spillage and broken bags before departure

Record Keeping:

• Provide daily Gate to Gate data and efficiency influencing factors
• Customer pallet returns report
• Interplant transfer material reports
• Pocket and bulk delivery registers

People Management and Development:

• Ensure that work is completed accurately and timeously
• Lead, coach and counsel Team members, promoting highly engaged and accountable team
• Deliver results and show increasing delivery capacity
• Has execution knowledge of disciplinary and grievance procedures

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric plus relevant Production/ Operations/ Logistics tertiary qualification
• 3 years’ experience in an operations environment
• 3 years’ in supervisory / leadership role
• Microsoft office and SAP System essential

• Maintaining and updating information and records
• Receiving, capturing, collating and distributing information.
• Document control.
• Office management and general clerical duties.
• Dealing with queries, complaints and requests for information.
• Assisting in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports.
• Supporting site management with day-to-day site activities.
• Work related to the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).
• Work related to human resource management (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR) .
• Work related to Payroll & Time and Attendance
• Providing support to the commercial and planning team as required.
• Liaising with clients.
• Ordering office supplies.

• Must be willing to work shifts.

Company based in Durban is seeking a candidate who will be responsible for assisting management with Clearing and Forwarding department. You will be required to work hand in hand with the agency department to any request for ships deliveries and attend to any clearing and forwarding jobs. We are seeking candidates who self-motivated, good team players who has attention to detail and able to diplomatically problem solve all customer issues. You will need to be able to work under pressure as most clearing jobs will be under time deadlines for reporting.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to Frame Import & Export Bills of Entries (including cash payments).
• Tariff Classification experience.
• The import & export process with regards to;
• Documents required for customs clearance & the customs clearance procedures.
• Draft Clearing Instructions and other required templates.
• Knowledge of Bulk / Break Bulk/ Spares and container clearances.
• Knowledge of the port and relevant berths.
• Understand the clearance process from time of customs clearance, processing and payment of Cargo Dues to paying and taking release from the shipping lines.
• Understand the customs stop procedures.
• Ability to put together all the costs involved in clearing a shipment i.e. quote.
• Experience in invoicing or preparing of a charge sheet.
• Providing clients with requested reports and updates on time.
• Core freight / EasyClear / Ship-Shape or other operating system software.
• Basic Knowledge of INCO Terms (FCA/CPT/DAP DDP etc.)
• Understanding of marine insurance. (FAIS)
• Physical Release & Collection procedures of the Port / Airport and LCL Depots.
