Chef – Cape Town
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Chef to support the culinary operations of an in-house coffee shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals, snacks and baked goods while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare food items and meal components before service, including chopping fruit and vegetables, cutting meat and cleaning seafood.
Produce baked goods daily.
Prepare breakfast and lunch orders, as well as food for client events, in a timely manner.
Ensure food preparation, baking, cooking techniques and presentation are in line with current culinary standards.
Maintain consistent quality and high food standards.
Assist with stock control, including raising requisitions and ensuring stations are fully stocked.
Minimise food and supply waste through proper controls and portion management.
Assist with menu pricing where required.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and adhere strictly to health and safety regulations.
Support the Executive Chef with monitoring cleaning staff where needed.
Build strong working relationships with staff, vendors and contractors.
Requirements:
Senior Certificate.
Culinary Certificate/Diploma would be advantageous.
2–3 years’ experience within the hospitality or food service industry.
Experience within a corporate or professional services environment would be advantageous.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, stock control and kitchen safety.
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain high standards.
Good teamwork, communication and time management skills.
