Minimum requirement
Matric
Completed LLB degree
Admitted Attorney of the High Court
Minimum of 2 years' post-admission experience
Experience in Commercial Litigation and Banking Litigation - will be a distinct advantage
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Ability to work independently and manage matters efficiently
Valid driver's license and own vehicle

Duties and responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of commercial and general litigation matters from inception to finalisation
Draft, review, and amend legal documents, including pleadings, notices, affidavits, agreements, opinions, and correspondence
Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice to clients on commercial and litigation-related matters
Represent clients in the Magistrates' Courts and High Courts, where applicable
Prepare matters for trial, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Consult with clients, advocates, counsel, witnesses, and other relevant stakeholders
Attend court appearances, pre-trial conferences, consultations, and case management meetings
Develop litigation strategies and provide practical, commercially focused legal solutions
Ensure compliance with court rules, practice directives, and statutory requirements
Manage court deadlines and maintain accurate case files and records
Brief and liaise with advocates and other legal professionals
Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes in the best interests of clients
Monitor the progress of matters and keep clients informed throughout the litigation process
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders
Mentor candidate attorneys and provide guidance where required
Ensure accurate time recording, billing, and recovery in accordance with firm policies
Stay abreast of developments in legislation, case law, and legal practice
Contribute to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the Commercial and General Litigation Department
