Job Summary
A well-established 5-star boutique hotel in the Nelspruit/White River region requires a hands-on, passionate General Manager to lead the property and drive excellence across all areas of the business. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a strong all-rounder who thrives in a boutique environment and leads from the front. The ideal candidate is fully committed to guest satisfaction and takes ownership of the property as if it were their own. You will oversee all aspects of the hotel, ensuring exceptional service delivery to both local and international guests, while maximizing occupancy, revenue, and overall profitability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership: Full daily management of the property, ensuring all departments run seamlessly. Revenue Growth: Driving occupancy, revenue, and yield strategies to meet financial targets. Financial Oversight: Managing budgets, controlling costs, and analyzing P&L performance. Commercial Management: Overseeing reservations, sales, and maintaining strong relationships with travel agents. Guest Relations: Maintaining exceptional service standards and personally ensuring guest satisfaction. Team Development: Leading, motivating, and developing the staff to maintain a high-performance culture. F&B Excellence: Managing food and beverage performance, including menu costing and quality control. Property Upkeep: Overseeing maintenance, general property upkeep, and special projects. Compliance: Ensuring the property meets all legal, health, safety, and operational standards. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) Financial Performance Achieving budgeted revenue and Gross Operating Profit (GOP). Effective management of labor costs and operational expenses. Accurate financial reporting and meeting P&L targets. Room Revenue & Occupancy Optimizing Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). Successful implementation of yield management and sales strategies. Guest Satisfaction & Quality Assurance Maintaining high ratings on review platforms (TripAdvisor, Apply Below, etc.). Ensuring 100% compliance with 4/5-star service standards. Operational Efficiency & Maintenance Maintaining the physical asset to the highest standards through preventative maintenance. Minimizing wastage in F&B and housekeeping departments. Staff Retention & Performance Maintaining low staff turnover and high morale. Effective training and development of the team to meet service benchmarks. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Experience: Proven experience in a General Manager or senior hospitality leadership role within a 4/5-star environment. Acumen: Strong financial and business skills with a focus on profitability. Leadership: Excellent staff management skills with a proactive, "lead by example" approach. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of revenue management and reservations systems. Commitment: Ability to work long hours, remain on standby when required, and reside on-site.
