Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Manager: Control Room Operations & Technology in Libanon, Westonaria, Gauteng to lead and transform its security command centre and technology environment. This senior leadership role is responsible for establishing the control room as the central command authority for all security monitoring, incident coordination, operational response, and security technology governance.
The successful candidate will combine extensive operational security experience with strong leadership and technology expertise to drive innovation, improve detection capabilities, enhance response effectiveness, and ensure world-class governance across security operations.
Responsibilities: - Lead the control room as the central command authority for security monitoring and incident management.
- Provide operational command over tactical response teams and incident deployment.
- Develop and enforce control room operating procedures, escalation protocols and governance frameworks.
- Ensure all operational decisions comply with legal, ethical and organisational standards.
- Manage both internal and outsourced control room operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, vigilance and proactive threat detection.
- Improve detection accuracy while reducing missed incidents.
- Oversee CCTV, alarm monitoring, access control and security screening technologies.
- Implement covert testing, detection audits and operational performance reviews.
- Measure detection effectiveness against business risks and threat models.
- Drive intelligence-led security operations and reduce reliance on reactive monitoring.
- Take ownership of security technology performance across all operational environments.
- Lead the Security Technology Design Authority.
- Approve, review and optimise all security technology deployments.
- Standardise technology architecture and eliminate ineffective legacy systems.
- Resolve technology-related operational failures.
- Optimise AI-driven detection and analytics platforms.
- Ensure integration between security technology, intelligence and investigations.
- Lead incident command and tactical response activation.
- Ensure rapid response following verified security incidents.
- Drive automation initiatives including:
- Drone technology
- Automated alarm-to-response workflows
- Predictive detection systems
- Transition operations towards intelligent automated security monitoring.
Vendor Management: - Manage security technology vendors and OEM relationships.
- Benchmark suppliers against international best practice.
- Introduce innovative technologies and service providers where appropriate.
- Eliminate ineffective contractor dependencies.
- Implement controls to minimise operational and contractor risks
System Optimisation: - Lead initiatives to reduce false and nuisance alarms.
- Improve system design and AI calibration.
- Enhance operator effectiveness through continuous optimisation.
- Improve overall technology reliability and operational performance.
Governance and Risk: - Develop governance standards for control room operations and security technology.
- Ensure compliance with:
- MHSA
- PSIRA
- POPIA
- Explosives Act
- Applicable ISO standards
- Maintain security technology risk registers.
- Lead audit and assurance programmes.
- Report material risks to executive leadership and board committees.
Integrity and Security Tools: - Implement controls to detect insider threats and operational misconduct.
- Establish behavioural monitoring and independent audit programmes.
- Promote ethical standards across security operations.
- Embed integrity controls into operational processes and technology platforms.
Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in one of the following:
- Security Management
- Risk Management
- Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or Industrial)
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
- Equivalent qualification
- Minimum 10 years' experience in:
- Security operations
- Control room management
- Security technology
- Proven leadership of large-scale operational and technology transformation initiatives.
- Extensive experience with integrated security technologies and command centre operations.
Certifications: - ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP)
- PMP or PRINCE2
- ISO-related certifications
