Job Summary
Our client within the short-term insurance sector is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join their Pricing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining pricing models that support underwriting, risk segmentation, and strategic business objectives.
This role offers the opportunity to work on pricing model development, automation initiatives, and reserving model enhancements within a delivery-focused environment that values technical excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, refine, and maintain pricing models used for underwriting and risk segmentation
- Perform data preparation, exploration, and feature engineering using Python and SQL
- Apply statistical techniques, including GLMs, to support pricing model development and calibration
- Translate business requirements into practical pricing solutions and model enhancements
- Improve model efficiency, governance, and documentation
- Support rate reviews, pricing investigations, and scenario testing
- Communicate results and insights to business stakeholders
- Contribute to the automation and optimisation of pricing processes
- Support reserving model development and validation activities
- Assist with the implementation and testing of reserving software
- Support data preparation and integration for reserving processes
- Contribute to improvements in reserving governance and documentation Assist with data extraction, cleaning, and preparation using Python and SQL
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
- Completion of A100 and A200 actuarial exams, or close to completion
- Strong actuarial exam track record with a clear focus on pricing
- Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years' experience within short-term insurance
- Demonstrated experience in pricing model development or pricing analytics
- Progress towards or completion of A100 and A200 actuarial examinations
- Skills:
- Strong Python programming capability for modelling, automation, and data analysis
- Solid understanding of pricing methodologies, including GLMs
- SQL for data extraction and processing
- Experience working with large and complex datasets
- Exposure to reserving techniques or reserving systems would be advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently within a delivery-focused environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
