Job Summary
Our client operates within the financial services sector, specialising in short-term insurance solutions and data-driven pricing strategies. They are seeking a Junior Actuarial Analyst to support the Pricing function through model development, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
This role offers hands-on experience in pricing model development, with additional exposure to reserving processes, tools, and data preparation. The successful candidate will work closely with senior analysts and gain practical experience in a structured, delivery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with data extraction, cleaning, and preparation using Python and SQL
- Support the development, testing, and refinement of pricing models (including GLMs)
- Perform exploratory data analysis and basic statistical investigations
- Assist with pricing reviews, monitoring, and reporting processes
- Prepare clear and structured outputs for senior stakeholders
- Contribute to automation and continuous improvement of pricing processes
- Maintain documentation and version control of modelling work
- Support data preparation and validation for reserving exercises
- Assist with testing and implementation of reserving tools and systems
- Contribute to basic reserving analyses under supervision
- Maintain clear documentation for reserving-related activities
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
- Completion of A100 and A200 actuarial exams, or close to completion
- Strong actuarial exam track record with a clear focus on pricing
- Experience:
- Minimum 1+ years' experience within short-term insurance
- Exposure to pricing model development or pricing support functions
- Skills:
- Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and analysis
- Basic understanding of statistical methods and modelling techniques
- Foundational understanding of actuarial concepts, particularly pricing and reserving
- Strong Excel skills
- Exposure to SQL would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a structured, delivery-driven environment
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical capabilities
- Good communication and documentation skills
