Botha Kelder, situated in the Breedekloof wine region, is a well-established and respected wine cellar with a proud history of producing quality wines since 1949 that reflect the character of the region. The cellar currently has a dynamic career opportunity for an energetic Production Manager to join their production team. The successful candidate will report to the CEO.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and oversee all winemaking / production operations
• Develop and implement winemaking strategies to achieve quality, style, and production objectives
• Personnel Management (productivity, planning of labour requirements, appointments, discipline, training, performance management, etc.)
• Maintain compliance with food safety, health and safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Develop and manage production budgets and monitor production costs
• Coordinate maintenance and optimal utilisation of cellar equipment and infrastructure
• Oversee general cellar administration and stock control of bulk wine, dry goods, additives, and production consumables
• Liaison with bulk wine clients regarding proposals, negotiations and contracting of wine
Requirements for the ideal candidate:
• A relevant tertiary qualification (degree / diploma) in Viticulture & Oenology
• Minimum of 10 years' relevant winemaking experience
• Experience in a senior and/or leadership role will be advantageous
• Proven track record in producing quality bulk wines across a range of wine styles
• Sound knowledge of food safety, occupational health and safety, environmental, and industry regulatory requirements
• Experience in personnel management
• Experience in production planning, budgeting, inventory management and cost control
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Good computer proficiencies (WineMS & MS Office – Excel)
• Excellent interpersonal- and communication skills
• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to live on the company premises
A market-related remuneration package will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience.
