Job Summary
A luxury game lodge is seeking a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep, repair, and overall functionality of all lodge facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for both guests and staff. The successful candidate will lead the maintenance team, manage contractors, implement preventative maintenance programmes, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards while supporting overall lodge operations. REQUIREMENT: * Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role within hospitality or lodge environments * Strong technical knowledge (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, carpentry) * Ability to manage maintenance projects and contractors * Strong leadership and team management skills * Good communication and problem-solving ability * Computer literacy (MS Office essential, Opera advantageous) * Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations * Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment * Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance Operations: * Conduct regular inspections of lodge facilities and grounds * Oversee maintenance in rooms, public areas, kitchens, and staff areas * Plan and manage repairs, renovations, and projects * Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules * Respond to breakdowns and emergencies efficiently * Control maintenance budgets, expenses, and reporting * Ensure proper use and upkeep of tools and equipment * Manage contractors and supplier relationships * Drive cost-saving and energy-efficient initiatives Guest Interaction: * Attend to guest maintenance requests promptly * Maintain professionalism and service standards when interacting with guests * Ensure confidentiality and security of guest property * Act as Duty Manager when required Team Management: * Lead, train, and supervise maintenance staff * Ensure productivity, safety, and adherence to procedures * Provide ongoing coaching and skills development Operational Coordination: * Work closely with all lodge departments to ensure smooth operations * Minimise disruption to guests during maintenance activities Health; Safety & Compliance: * Ensure compliance with OHS and lodge safety standards * Implement emergency procedures and staff training * Manage warranties, assets, and maintenance records * Ensure environmentally responsible practices and waste management * Maintain a safe environment for guests, staff, and contractors PACKAGE: * R23 000 (Negotiable – DOE) * Live-in position (if applicable) * Meals on Duty * Pension / Provident Fund contribution (after probation) LOCATION: Waterberg, Limpopo
