Independent Review Consultant
The Independent Review Consultant will be responsible for performing independent review engagements in accordance with applicable South African reporting standards, professional regulations, and firm methodologies. The role requires the preparation and review of financial and tax-related information, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality client service delivery.
Perform independent review engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including companies, close corporations, trusts, and other entities.
Execute review procedures in accordance with applicable financial reporting frameworks and professional standards.
Identify and communicate accounting, tax, and compliance matters arising during engagements.
Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards and legislative requirements.
Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial information presented in financial statements.
Assist with the analysis and interpretation of financial data where required.
Prepare income tax computations for individuals, companies, trusts, and other entities.
Compile supporting documentation and information required for tax submissions and SARS queries.
Assist in responding to tax assessments, audits, and other correspondence from SARS.
Respond effectively to queries raised by engagement managers, partners, and clients.
Liaise with clients to obtain necessary information and supporting documentation.
Maintain professional relationships while ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Ensure that all engagements comply with regulatory, professional, and firm quality standards.
Maintain accurate and complete working paper files and supporting documentation.
Adhere to PKF policies, procedures, and ethical requirements.
BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
Membership with a recognised professional body will be advantageous.
Minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience in an accounting and auditing environment.
Practical experience in performing independent review engagements.
Experience in preparing annual financial statements and tax computations.
Exposure to SARS compliance processes and tax administration.
Advanced working knowledge of CaseWare (essential).
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting frameworks, and tax legislation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Experience within a professional services, audit, or accounting firm environment.
Experience working with a broad range of entities across different industries.
