Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Manager for a luxury safari lodge in the Timbavati region. The successful candidate will oversee the lodge’s workshop, vehicle fleet, generators and technical team, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable and maintained to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Oversee the servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles, game viewers and plant equipment Implement preventative maintenance, inspection and service schedules Ensure maximum fleet availability and minimise operational downtime Conduct quality checks and test drives following repairs Maintain accurate vehicle files, service records and licensing documentation Manage outsourced repairs, suppliers and the procurement of parts and consumables Oversee the servicing and operational readiness of standby generators Manage workshop budgets, stock takes, invoices and cost controls Monitor fuel usage, generator efficiency and responsible waste disposal Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards Lead; train and manage the workshop team Manage staff performance, attendance, leave and development Maintain a clean, organised and professionally run workshop Requirements Qualified and experienced Vehicle Mechanic At least three to five years’ experience managing a workshop of a similar size Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, fleet management and generators Proven leadership and team management experience Strong administrative, budgeting and stock-control skills Excellent troubleshooting and organisational abilities Valid South African driver’s licence and PDP Ability to work effectively under pressure in a remote environment The ideal candidate will be practical, dependable and solution-driven, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence.
