About the Property A centrally located boutique guest house in Stellenbosch, offering a curated mix of luxury rooms and self-catering apartments. The property accommodates approximately 30 guests and is known for delivering a seamless, high-quality guest experience with a strong focus on attention to detail, comfort, and personalised service. Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on, operationally driven Guest House Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the property. This is a practical, on-the-ground role suited to an individual who thrives in a small, high-standard environment and takes pride in ownership and execution. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience Manage all guest interactions, ensuring a warm, professional, and personalised experience Handle guest queries, requests, and complaints efficiently and effectively Monitor and respond to online reviews across platforms Assist with reservations and booking enquiries Operations & Housekeeping Oversee daily housekeeping operations and standards Ensure all rooms and apartments are guest-ready at all times Coordinate maintenance requirements and manage external suppliers Systems & Revenue Manage bookings across platforms such as Nightbridge, Apply Below, and Airbnb Monitor occupancy levels, rates, and availability Ensure accurate system management and reporting Staff Management Supervise and support on-site staff Allocate daily tasks and ensure operational efficiency Maintain a positive, accountable team culture Administration Manage payments, stock control, and basic financial processes Compile and submit regular operational reports to the owner Requirements 2–5 years’ experience in a hospitality management role, ideally within a boutique hotel or guest house environment Working knowledge of booking platforms and PMS systems Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and take initiative Key Traits Proactive and solutions-driven Detail-oriented with high standards Strong sense of ownership and accountability Guest-focused with a service excellence mindset Hands-on; practical approach to operations
