Job Summary
Luxury Hospitality Estate close to Stellenbosch is looking for a Gardener to install and maintain the flowers, trees and green spaces on the estate and ensure that the gardens and green spaces are always healthy and beautiful. Duties: Installing and maintaining seasonal plants to ensure attractive, well-maintained landscaped areas. Mowing; trimming, fertilising, mulching, edging, and weeding gardens and green spaces, as well as pruning trees and shrubs to promote healthy growth and appearance. Responsible for the proper use, care, and maintenance of gardening equipment and machinery, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers. Planting; cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting produce within the greenhouse, ensuring optimal growing conditions and crop health. Working knowledge of irrigation systems, including their operation, monitoring, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Responsible for monitoring plant health, identifying and addressing pest-related issues, and ensuring gardens, pathways, greenhouse areas, and surrounding green spaces are kept clean, tidy, and free of debris and litter at all times. Requirements: Grade 12 Preferably 2 years’ previous experience as a Gardener Experience with plumbing will be advantageous Familiarity with landscaping design principles Extensive knowledge of regional plant life Working knowledge of basic irrigation systems and their maintenance Knowledge of local pests and appropriate control methods Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilisers Understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to landscaping and gardening activities Ability to lift and carry heavy objects & to remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
