Lead Trails Guide | Luxury Lodge | Kruger National Park Salary: Negotiable DOE | Live-In Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Lead Trails Guide for a luxury lodge in Kruger National Park. This is a senior role within the Safari Department, requiring leadership, extensive guiding experience, and the ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a 5-star environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Head Guide in managing the Safari Department and act as Head Guide in their absence Train; mentor, and monitor all field guide functions according to FGASA, Cathseta, and SANParks standards Conduct guest introductory and safety orientations, guided game drives, bush walks, and interpretive experiences Deliver informative and engaging guest experiences, including drinks stops and bush dining events Maintain overall operation and administration of guides, safari experiences, vehicles, equipment, and assets Contribute to lodge and company social media platforms to promote wildlife and conservation knowledge Assist with emergency response, including medical incidents, fire, and flood situations Manage guide scheduling, leave approvals, and staffing to meet lodge demand Ensure all guides comply with lodge and company standards, taking corrective or disciplinary action as needed Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance, including daily safari vehicle checks and cleanliness Manage rifles, ammunition, and firearms licenses in accordance with regulations Monitor development and training requirements within the department, delivering training where required Report conservation matters, maintenance requirements, and guest feedback to management promptly Knowledge & Skills Required: FGASA Level 1 Trails Guide certification minimum ARH and Rifle Proficiency, First Aid Level 1, valid driver’s licence and PDP Knowledge of property procedures and guiding standards in accordance with FGASA, SANParks, and company protocols Excellent interpersonal, communication, and emotional intelligence skills Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities Proactive; adaptable, and committed to guest satisfaction Personal Characteristics: Confident; outgoing, and warm personality Professional appearance and demeanour Honest; diligent, self-motivated, and reliable High energy with the ability to motivate staff and create memorable guest experiences Attention to detail and strong sense of urgency Passionate about wildlife, conservation, and guest delight Willingness to share knowledge, teach, and inspire others Strong references and a clean track record are mandatory This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced trails guide to lead a team in a prestigious safari environment, contributing to outstanding guest experiences and conservation efforts.
