Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Trails Guide for a luxury private game lodge located in the North West. This is an excellent opportunity for a guide who is passionate about wildlife and delivering exceptional guest experiences in a pristine safari environment.
Salary Structure:
R14,480 for FGASA Level 1
Additional R500 increase for each subsequent FGASA level
R300 per walk
Medical aid contribution of R1,388.12 after completion of 3-month probation period
Key Responsibilities:
Game Drive Days:
Conduct morning and afternoon game drives (3 hours each) for guests
Host guests at dinners (rangers sit every second night, at every boma night, and whenever there is a single travel agent in camp)
Lead walking safaris upon guest request; if not fully competent, accompany experienced guides to build hours and skills
Assist with guest transfers including pick-up, drop-off, and luggage handling, adhering to Fedair runway regulations
Provide emergency maintenance assistance as needed
Respond to guest calls during the night for issues such as critters, noisy frogs, or emergencies
Facilitate kiddies’ activities at the lodge
Non-Game Drive Days:
Assist with lodge maintenance in coordination with the maintenance manager
If no maintenance tasks are available, liaise with management to identify other duties
Complete tasks assigned by Head of Department (HOD), which may include bush clearing, completing week sheets, checking electric fences, and vehicle maintenance
Perform walkabouts to identify maintenance needs and support the maintenance team
Collaborate and learn from fellow guides through joint outings and knowledge sharing
