Safari JOBS is searching for an experienced and suitably qualified Trails Guide to join a high-end, 5 star safari lodge situated within a renowned Big 5 reserve in the North West region of South Africa. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional, guest-focused Guide who is passionate about delivering exceptional safari experiences through both game drives and guided bush walks. The successful candidate will join a close-knit guiding and lodge team where excellent guiding standards, warm guest interaction, safety and professionalism are key. The role extends beyond guiding and requires someone who is comfortable assisting with guest hosting, lodge operations and general property-related duties when required. The position would suit a hands-on and adaptable Trails Guide who enjoys being part of the wider lodge operation and takes pride in creating memorable, informative and personalised safari experiences. Clear criminal record; Excellent employment track record – references will be verified; Excellent English fluency & literacy; Minimum 3 years’ guiding experience; FGASA Trails Guide – NQF2 / NQF4; FGASA Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH); FGASA Nature Site Guide – NQF4; VPDA theory & practical completed; CATHSETTA certifications for relevant items; VPDA specific CATHSSETA qualification in hand or proof of submitted application; Required walking hours and dangerous-game encounters completed with Trails Logbook up to date and on hand; Department of Tourism registered (DEDECT); SAPS Firearm Competency; SASSETA 117705 / 119651 / 123519 OR licence to possess a firearm; First Aid – preferably Wilderness orientated; Valid Driver’s Licence with PrDP; Relevant Department of Tourism / provincial registration; All licences, memberships, registrations and qualifications must be current and valid. ????????? ???????? FGASA Advanced Astronomy / Biome Guide/ Bird Guide / Guiding Butterflies & Moths / CyberTracker Track & Sign / Tracker / Trailing; Bush Lane shooting assessment - 15 / 10 / 5 with grouping at 30 meters - Bush Lane and relevant logbook assessments can be facilitated by the company after appointment for an otherwise suitably qualified Trails Guide. ??? ???????????????? Present at main lodge 30 min before wake up call to prepare coffee for guests; Wake up call to guests and hosting guests for morning coffee; Conducting morning game drive according to NWPTB regulations; Following up with reception on any changes on the Day Sheet; Aware of guests' dietary requirement and communicate with the kitchen regarding snacks on game drive (Lactose, gluten, vegetarian, vegan, etc); Meeting guests on arrival, taking luggage to the rooms, parking guests' vehicles; Greeting guests on departure, fetching guests' vehicles and doing luggage; Hosting guests at high tea; Conducting afternoon game drive according to NWPTB regulations (Code of Conduct); Removing of unwanted critters & creatures from guests room during the night; Removing snakes for public areas and rooms; Airstrip clearing, pick up and drop offs while following Federal Air protocol; Conducting bush walks according to NWPTB regulations; Communicate ETA's with lodge via Parks board radio channel; Follow and ethically communicate on appropriate WhatsApp groups; Ensure vehicle and equipment is in good condition at all × Ensure contents of First Aid kit is complete and not expired; Ensure rifle is signed in and out of safe and clean at all times Report any faulty equipment to head guide; Conducting kiddies activities for children under the age of 10 years old; Assist with maintenance when needed ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? Starting at R15, 400.00 basic gross per month for NQF 2 Trails Guide, increasing by R500.00 per additional level above NQF 2; Bush Walk Incentive: R320.00 per conducted guest walk; Accommodation provided; Meals provided; Uniform provided; Medical aid contribution of R1, 478.35 p/m, applicable after 3rd month; 2 complimentary drinks while on game drive and 2 complimentary drinks when hosting; 16 lodge bed nights per annum for friends / family visits; Reasonably unlimited staff village bed nights for visiting friends / family; 2 complimentary bednights at an affiliated group property for the employee and one guest; Access to the lodge gym; Free Wi-Fi access; Staff discounts on drinks, curio items and selected flights between Johannesburg and the lodge / reserve; Opportunity to join game drives when space is available. Work Cycle: 36 days on / 12 days off; 21 additional floating days per annum, to be taken at times suitable to company operational requirements. Working hours are generally a minimum of 8 hours per day, with additional hours potentially required according to guest schedules and operational requirements. ?????????? ????
