Job Summary
Position Overview The Tour Guide & Driver is responsible for providing boutique hotel guests with safe, professional and personalised transportation and guiding services. The role combines guest transfers, sightseeing excursions, local tours and concierge-style guest assistance ; ensuring every guest receives a memorable experience. Key Duties & Responsibilities Guest Transfers & Driving Provide safe and professional airport, hotel and local transfers. Transport guests to restaurants, attractions, shopping areas, wineries, beaches and other destinations. Conduct scheduled and private sightseeing tours. Maintain excellent knowledge of local routes, attractions and travel times. Ensure the vehicle is clean, well maintained and presented to boutique-hotel standards. Complete daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Assist guests with luggage and personal belongings. Drive responsibly and comply with all applicable road and safety regulations. Tour Guiding Plan and conduct personalised tours and excursions for hotel guests. Provide interesting and accurate information about local history, culture, wildlife, landmarks and attractions. Tailor tours according to guests' interests, age, nationality and available time. Recommend restaurants, attractions, activities and hidden local experiences. Keep guests informed about itineraries, departure times and changes to plans. Ensure guests receive a safe, enjoyable and professional experience. Guest Service Welcome guests warmly and create a positive first and lasting impression. Act as an ambassador for the boutique hotel and destination. Provide exceptional personalised service throughout the guest journey. Assist with restaurant bookings, activity arrangements and general concierge requests where required. Communicate professionally with international and local guests. Handle guest questions, concerns and unexpected situations calmly and professionally. Maintain guest confidentiality and discretion. Administration & Compliance Maintain accurate transfer and tour schedules. Record mileage, fuel usage and vehicle checks. Coordinate closely with Reception, Reservations and Management. Ensure all required permits, licences and vehicle documentation remain valid. Report incidents, accidents or guest complaints immediately. Qualifications & Requirements Grade 12 / Matric. Valid driver's licence appropriate for the vehicle being driven. Professional Driver's Permit (PrDP/PDP) where required for transporting guests. Valid tourist guide qualification and registration where performing regulated tourist-guide duties. In South Africa, tourist guiding is regulated, and guides must complete recognised training and register with the relevant Provincial Registrar. Valid First Aid certificate. A recognised tourist-guiding qualification/training through an accredited provider. Previous experience as a Tour Guide, Lodge Guide, Hotel Driver, Guest Relations Officer, Concierge or similar . Previous experience within a 4/5-star hotel, boutique hotel, lodge or luxury tourism environment is highly advantageous. Excellent knowledge of the local area and tourist attractions. Excellent English communication skills; additional languages advantageous. Clean driving record. Good knowledge of vehicle safety and basic vehicle checks.
