About the CompanyOur client, a well-established plant services company based in Ermelo, provides maintenance, repair and support services to industrial and heavy-plant operations across Mpumalanga. They are expanding their technical team and looking for a qualified Fitter and Turner who takes pride in precise, reliable workmanship.
Role Purpose
The Qualified Fitter and Turner will maintain, repair, fabricate and machine mechanical components on plant and equipment, keeping machinery running safely and efficiently and minimising downtime for the client's customers.
Key Responsibilities
Strip, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, crushers and hydraulic components
Machine, turn and manufacture parts on lathes, milling machines and drills to drawing and tolerance
Carry out planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns and call-outs as required
Fault-find on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Align shafts, couplings and drives, and replace bearings, seals and wear parts
Read and work from engineering drawings, specifications and parts manuals
Measure accurately using precision instruments such as micrometers, verniers and dial gauges
Complete job cards, inspection records and maintenance reports
Follow lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and site safety procedures at all times
Work alongside boilermakers, electricians and other trades on shared jobs and shutdowns
Requirements
Minimum RequirementsGrade 12 (Matric)
Trade Tested Fitter and Turner (Red Seal / Section 13 or 26D certificate)
Minimum 3 years' post-trade experience, ideally in plant, mining, industrial or heavy-equipment environments
Valid driver's licence (Code B or EB) and own transport
Willing to work overtime, standby and shutdowns as needed
Advantageous
Experience on crushers, screens, conveyors or earthmoving equipment
Hydraulics and pneumatics experience
Mining or MHSA site experience and valid medical fitness certificate
Working at heights, rigging or first aid certificates
