Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior Reservations Consultant to join an Australian-based luxury tour operator specialising in tailor-made travel throughout Southern and East Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-focused travel professional who enjoys the operational side of luxury travel. The successful candidate will work closely with the Travel Designers, managing reservations from confirmation through to travel and ensuring that every element of the itinerary is booked accurately and runs smoothly. The position is based remotely, and is open to residents of South Africa. The role requires a start time of 07h30 or 08h00 (depending on the time of year, due to daylight saving time in Australia), in order to tail the end of the work day in Australia. Besides this, there is some flexibility in the role in terms of times. Key Responsibilities Manage reservation files from confirmation through to guest departure Book and coordinate accommodation, transfers, flights, activities and other itinerary components Ensure all supplier confirmations are received and accurately recorded Maintain up-to-date booking information within the reservations and CRM systems Prepare accurate travel documentation and final itineraries Monitor payment deadlines, cancellation periods and booking conditions Process amendments, cancellations and booking revisions efficiently Follow up on outstanding confirmations and negotiate availability where required Build and maintain strong relationships with lodges, hotels, airlines and ground handlers Coordinate logistics across multiple suppliers and destinations Confirm room allocations, special requests and guest preferences Assist with supplier invoices, deposits, final payments and reconciliations Provide operational support before and during guest travel Assist with urgent itinerary changes and resolve reservation-related issues professionally Support the Travel Designers with post-travel administration where required Requirements At least 4 years’ experience in luxury travel reservations, tour operations or a similar role Strong destination knowledge of Southern and East Africa Previous experience working with luxury lodges, hotels and travel suppliers Experience using a reservation system such as Safari Portal Excellent administrative and organisational abilities Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage several complex bookings and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel A professional, accountable and solutions-focused approach Experience working with international luxury travel advisors, foreign currency quotations, airline reservations, ticketing or CRM systems would be advantageous.
