Job Summary
About the Role
Our client, a well-established department store and online retailer in the Vaal Triangle, is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Photographer to join its team in Duncanville, Vereeniging. The business sells a wide range of clothing, fashion and lifestyle products in store and online. Clear, accurate and consistent images of its clothing ranges are central to how its customers see and buy them.
This role suits an emerging photographer who already has some hands-on experience photographing clothing and products. It offers the chance to build that experience in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
Scope of the Role
The Junior Photographer photographs clothing and other products for the business's online store and marketing channels. They then edit, resize and prepare every image so each item is shown accurately and consistently. The role works closely with the wider team to keep up with new stock, product launches and promotional deadlines.
Key Responsibilities Include
Clothing and product photography
Photograph clothing and other products to a high professional standard, in line with the business's styling and image guidelines
Shoot garments as flat lays, on ghost mannequins, on hangers or on models, as each product requires
Prepare garments before each shoot: steaming, pinning and styling so the fit, shape and fabric show correctly
Set up lighting, backdrops and camera settings so colour, texture and detail are captured accurately
Capture the full set of required shots for every item: front, back, side, detail and close-ups of fabric, labels and trims
Check every shoot for accuracy, so that the item, colour, size and SKU match the image
Image editing, resizing and preparation
Edit and retouch product images: background removal and clean-up, colour correction, colour-matching images to the actual garment, and removing creases, lint and marks
Resize, crop and export images to the required dimensions, resolutions and file formats for the online store, marketplaces and social media
Use batch editing to process high volumes of images quickly and consistently
Name, file and upload images correctly so they link to the right products
Workflow and teamwork
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting daily output and turnaround targets
Communicate and collaborate with the team on shoot priorities, stock movement and deadlines
Handle garments and product samples with care, and keep the shooting area and equipment organised
