Purchasing & Procurement Manager. World Class 5* Game Lodge Sabi Sands Mpumalanga Responsible for the effective management, coordination and execution of all purchasing and procurement functions for the Lodge operation. The objective is to ensure the timely sourcing of quality goods and services in line with agreed standards, contributing directly to a seamless guest experience. As Head of Department, the Purchasing & Procurement Manager operates in accordance with company policies and strategic objectives, while actively driving cost efficiencies, maintaining supplier integrity and maximising profitability in line with approved budgets. Qualifications / Experience • 5 years’ experience in a purchasing and procurement role, preferably within hospitality • Extensive computer knowledge i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, Powerpoint, Sage X3 etc. • HMS Infor experience would be a bonus • Strong numerical and analytical skills with budgeting experience • Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal) Behaviours / Skills • A passion for people and service excellence • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively • Excellent communicator • Hands-on, proactive approach • Willing to work long, flexible hours • Strong interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity and patience with colleagues • High level of accountability, ownership and pride in work • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy • Flexible and adaptable mindset with a solution-oriented approach • Realistic understanding of and adaptability to bush life • Professional presentation and high personal hygiene standards • A sense of fun and understanding of the Virgin way of doing things • Positive attitude, sense of humour and alignment with Lodge’s culture and values Responsibilities: • Implement and uphold company procurement policies, procedures and ethical standards • Ensure all purchasing activities are compliant with internal controls and audit requirements • Provide guidance on procurement best practices, supplier selection and cost control measures • Continuously review and refine procurement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs • Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent service delivery and resolve any issues proactively • Oversee credit applications and maintain accurate supplier records • Draft, review and manage contracts in line with company requirements • Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, ensuring timely ordering and delivery of goods • Anticipate operational needs and ensure uninterrupted supply of critical items • Lead, mentor and develop stores team and provide feedback on their performance • Stock management and purchasing process management • Prepare and manage procurement budgets in line with operational requirements • Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements • Produce accurate monthly reports on procurement, stock and cost performance • Drive the implementation of cost control and cost reduction initiatives • Oversee stock management processes to minimise wastage, shrinkage and overstocking • Coordinate and supervise monthly stock takes, ensuring accuracy and accountability • Responsible for the following stores: Frozen; fresh and dry goods/perishables Consumables Printing and stationery Maintenance – includes all consumables, tools, gas, petrol & diesel Beverage Chemicals Operating equipment Permanent employment • Basic monthly salary (to be discussed in the interview) • Live-in basic furnished accommodation • R2514.00 food allowance at Stores over and above salary • Medical Aid - company contribution 50% (after 3-month successful probation period) • Pension Fund - company contribution 50% (after 3-month successful probation period) • Share of gratuities left by guests (upon re-opening of the lodge in 2027) • 1% company revenue gratuity (upon re-opening of the lodge in 2027) • 20 bed nights for family and friends annually at R750 ppp night (upon re-opening of the lodge in 2027) • 2x free Gym memberships (after 3-month successful probation period) • Leave cycle: 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off
