POS Programme Manager - Retail point of sale transformation

Role purpose

Lead a point of sale programme across a multi site retail environment. Coordinate systems, store readiness, payments and support workstreams to deliver controlled deployment while protecting checkout reliability, transaction integrity and the customer experience.

Key responsibilities

•  Own programme scope, delivery governance, budget, supplier commitments and dependencies across the point of sale workstreams.

•  Coordinate requirements for checkout, pricing, promotions, loyalty, returns and reconciliation with stores and central business teams.

•  Manage dependencies across POS software, store hardware, networks, payment services, finance and upstream data interfaces.

•  Govern test coverage and pilot acceptance, including relevant transaction exceptions, recovery and store connectivity scenarios.

•  Develop the store deployment strategy, wave plans and readiness criteria with operations, training and field support teams.

•  Coordinate cutover, deployment communications and command arrangements, escalating risks to trading and customer service.

•  Lead hypercare and rollout improvement, track programme benefits and transfer sustainable ownership to store and technology support.

Essential experience and capabilities

•  Proven programme leadership on a retail point of sale implementation, replacement or significant upgrade.

•  Experience coordinating deployment across multiple stores, including pilots, rollout waves and stabilisation.

•  Understanding of retail checkout processes and dependencies involving promotions, loyalty, payments, stock and financial reconciliation.

•  Strong vendor management and governance across software, infrastructure, business operations and support workstreams.

•  Experience planning releases around trading constraints and managing service continuity during store deployments.

•  Ability to manage executive stakeholders and provide evidence based recommendations on rollout readiness and risk.

Preferred experience and capabilities

•  Large national retail networks and integration across stores and ecommerce channels.

•  Experience with store devices, payment terminal dependencies and recovery arrangements for connectivity or system failures.

•  Relevant programme management certification and experience working with retail technology partners.
