Compliance Officer | Johannesburg | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Support a leading South African developmental finance organisation in maintaining strong regulatory, legal and compliance standards across its operations. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Officer will support the identification, monitoring and implementation of applicable legislation and regulatory requirements. The role will contribute to compliance programmes, risk mitigation plans, training and monitoring initiatives, regulatory engagement, governance reporting and ethics management.
The successful candidate will join an established compliance function within a complex, highly regulated organisation that provides financial and non-financial support to businesses and works closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do
Identify applicable legislation and monitor the organisation's regulatory universe.
Develop systems to identify changes in the regulatory environment and facilitate timely responses.
Draft risk mitigation plans to address legislative and regulatory compliance requirements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to direct compliance matters to the appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
Develop and implement effective compliance programmes.
Develop and implement compliance training and monitoring programmes.
Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies, including the NCR and FSCA.
Assist with coordinating the implementation of organisational policies.
Coordinate implementation of the organisation's complaints procedure.
Facilitate reporting to the Social and Ethics Committee.
Identify draft laws and policies that may affect the organisation and prepare submissions to relevant structures.
Identify policy issues that may adversely affect B-BBEE and assist in developing appropriate advocacy strategies.
Assist senior risk and legal stakeholders with the implementation of an effective Ethics Management programme.
What You Bring
LLB degree as a minimum qualification.
At least 3 years' experience in a regulatory, legal and compliance environment.
Experience in legislative and regulatory monitoring.
Understanding of compliance risk identification and mitigation.
Ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Strong attention to detail and organisational capability.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Resilience and the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
