DESCRIPTION: A very unique position for a passionate and knowledgeable guide within this protected biosphere and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Work alongside dedicated guides with high profile visitors and nature lovers from around the world visiting the De Hoop Nature Reserve, famous for its 55km Whale Trail hike, Fernkloof Nature Reserve, Walker Bay Nature Reserve and the Klein River Estuary. ProStaffSelect are in search of a highly passionate NATURE GUIDE for one of the Cape richest fynbos and coastal biospheres, a candidate with a genuine interest and love for the smaller, often overlooked aspects of nature. The key focus areas include fynbos, birdlife, and marine ecosystems REQUIREMENTS: Experience & knowledge of OVERBERG Birdlife, Fynbos & plant life, Marine & ecosystems. Physically fit & healthy with at least 5 years’ experience as a guide. Minimum CATHSSETA Nature Site Guide (NQF2) / FGASA Nature Guide (NQF2) or higher qualification. Up-to-date Registration with the National Department of Tourism (NDT). Valid South African driver’s license WITH (PDP). Additional qualifications as a Trails Guide, in Birding, Fynbos, Forest & Marine studies each motivate higher salary opportunities for this position. BENEFITS: Being part of a young and highly motivated & dynamic team Opportunities for career advancement and fast career tracking Salary includes 10% provident fund contributions and R250 toward a medical aid of your choice SALARY CRITERIA: The minimum qualification requirement for a Field Guide is FGASA NQF2 Nature Site Guide, with a starting salary of R12,500.00. (Refer to the qualification rubric below for potential salary increase opportunities) As an example, should candidates be successful in completing both theory and practical components of the Advanced Field Guide (NQF4), they will expand their knowledge and skill set, earning an additional R2,500 to the gross monthly salary. Guides with additional qualifications, such as a Nature Conservation Diploma or a Degree in Zoology, Ecology, etc., start at a different level due to the unique skill set they bring, which complements the additional training modules.
