Safari JOBS is recruiting urgently for a passionate Field Guide to join a world-class 5* coastal reserve in the Western Cape, ????? ??????? ?? ??? ????? ??? ????? ??????? ?? ??????: indigenous ecosystems, fascinating micro-life, seasonal changes, and the stories hidden in the landscape. ???? ?? ? ?????? ??????? ??????????? ???? ?????????? ??? ?????? ?? ??? ??????. Rather than a Big Five based safari focus, it is an opportunity for a guide who is genuinely excited by fauna and flora, coastal ecosystems, and ecology-led storytelling (there is no game on the property). This role will suit a guide who loves learning, teaching, and building guest connection through knowledge and storytelling, and who is excited by an environment where continuous growth is encouraged and rewarded. Clear criminal record; Excellent employment track record – references will be verified; Excellent English fluency & literacy; Min. 2 years’ work experience as a Field / Nature Guide; CATHSSETA & / FGASA NQF 2, or higher; NDT registration; Valid code 8 Drivers licence & valid PrDP; Excellent communication and people handling skills; An inherent passion for observing, sharing and learning about nature; The ability to work on his/her own with enthusiasm; Confident but humble; Flexible and co-operative and keen to work with the balance of the team in the interests of the lodges and the guests; Organized with attention to detail and time; A developmental approach to your staff and or colleagues; Professional and neat in personal appearance and image ??? ???????????????? Welcome and engage guests in a warm and friendly manner; Hosts Guests in line with the company’s standard of excellence; Create a memorable and educational experience for Guests by providing informative nature encounters; Customize experiences to meet Guests' interests and preferences, ensuring their satisfaction; Lead guided nature walks, safaris and outdoor activities; Share in-depth knowledge about local flora and fauna, wildlife behaviour, ecology and conservation efforts; Conscientious maintenance and care of vehicles and related equipment; Carries out administration duties timeously and effectively; Identify and educate Guests about various species of animals, birds and plants; Prioritize guest safety during outdoor activities by adhering to safety protocols; Maintain and inspect outdoor equipment and vehicles to ensure they are in excellent working condition; Provide clear safety instructions and guidelines to Guests; Promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices with a focus on minimizing environmental impact; Educate guests about the lodge's conservation initiatives and encourage their support; Ensure Guest satisfaction by being adaptable and responsive to their needs; Maintain records of guest participation in activities and relevant observations; Report safety concerns or incidents promptly to lodge management; Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills; Collaborate effectively with other lodge staff, managers, chefs, housekeepers and reception to ensure a seamless Guest experience. ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? Salary Info: Min. Nature Site Guide (NQF 2): R12 – R12, 500.00 per month – Increasing for guides with a related Diploma (R14 – R14, 500.00) or related Degree (R16 – R16, 500.00), plus additional qualification allowances such as Advanced Field Guide (NQF4) + R2, 500.00, selected specialist modules + R500.00 each, and Birding / Trails + R1, 000.00 each. Gratuities: Guides are allocated their own Guests. Tip policy in place: Per night and person – direct/in hand; Provident fund: 10% of gross salary - Staff member: 5% allocated towards retirement savings & 5% Employer contribution; Medical: Partial company contribution of R250.00 to a medical aid of the staff members’ choice; UIF contribution; Uniform provided; Annual bonus at the discretion of the company Work/Off cycle: 8 days off per month (Can be taken all together or you may split the days) + 15 annual leave days. ????? ???? Most staff live in their own accommodation or share, in nearby villages / quaint towns approximately 10 minutes away - There is potential onsite accommodation at approx. cost of R3, 000.00 p/m - this will however need to be confirmed during the recruitment process. There is a more balanced lifestyle here than in the bush – most staff come in with their own transport but there is also Quantum to collect staff / joining a lift club is an option. Meals are not included as most staff reside off site. ??????????? ???????
